Today, on January 19, at the Ministry of Culture took place working meeting on the development of Centers of Creative Industries in the Republic of Moldova, to which attended representatives of the Ministry, Moldova Competitiveness Project financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Organization for Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, Casa Imago, YOUBESC Creative Institute.
At the beginning of the discussion, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc remarked that the Republic of Moldova is characterized by a valuable creative potential, but also a good localization of the sector development. The official referred to the Strategy of Culture Development “Culture 2020”, the main strategic document in the Culture field that was elaborated by the Ministry of Culture, according to which one of the priority objective of the area is the development of cultural and creative industries, the same objective being found in Association Agreement the Republic of Moldova- European Union.
At the debates participated the expert of the Polygon Creative Center from Slovenia, Luka Piskoric, who had several meetings with representatives of the creative industries sector from the Republic of Moldova, he visited some locations, proposing models for the creation of Centers of Creative Industries in Chisinau. According to the expert, these centers can become spaces of local collaboration and a platform for independent professionals, creative communities and startups in the creative economy field, social and cultural entrepreneurship.
We mention that, at the Ministry of Culture solicitation, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), included in the portfolio of funded areas - creative services area, providing support for creative industries in Moldova.
